Welcome!
Around Chesham by Lalage Smyth, member of the Photography and Digital Imaging Groups
Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a
Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.
Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.
Our next monthly talk is on Thursday 12th September, starting at 2pm and our speaker is Lucy Moore. Lucy's talk is entitled Maharanis: The Tale of Four Indian Queens and their journey from Purdah to Parliament. It's the story of the rare and exotic matriarchs of a brilliant Indian family, recreating events from the final days of the Raj and the British Empire to present-day India, through the sumptuous and audacious lives of four ravishing an influential women. Lucy was educated in the UK and USA before studying history at Edinburgh University and in 2001 was voted one of the top twenty young writers in Britain. She is a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund and as well as being a prolific author, she has presented several series on Sky, the BBC, Channel Four and PBS.
The venue for this meeting is the Broadway Baptist Church in Chesham Broadway, which is wheelchair-accessible and equipped with a hearing loop.
If you are not currently a member of Chess Valley u3a and would like to sample a monthly talk and learn more about us, please come along and you will receive a warm welcome.
Best wishes
