Welcome to the website of Chess Valley u3a

Operating in and around Chesham in Buckinghamshire, we offer a wide range of activities for those in their ‘third age’, when they are no longer working full time and are able to pursue other interests.

Our members take part in activities ranging from Art to Wildlife, with books, dinghy sailing, French, history and a lot more in between.

Our first Monthly Talk of 2026 is on Thursday 8th January and features Karen van Oostrum with Flora of the Chilterns. The Chiltern Hills form a national landscape of outstanding beauty, shaped by fascinating geology and rich in diverse plant life. Karen's talk explores how the hills were formed and reveals how their underlying geology influences the wide variety of plants that thrive here. Karen has had a lifelong love of plants and the natural environment and enjoys sharing her knowledge through courses, talks and guided walks.

The venue for this talk is the Broadway Baptist Church, which is wheelchair-accessible and equipped with a hearing loop, and the meeting starts at 2pm.
